What are interlocking power and separation power?

When it comes to weight training, typical exercises for training the pectoral muscles include the bench press and the dumbbell press.
Here, we will focus on the bench press as an example.

Both involve linked multi-joint movements, but with a barbell, the force of the grips in both hands is firmly connected, amplifying the force. Compared to a barbell, with dumbbells, the lifting motion is performed with both hands separately, so the force is not amplified and you cannot lift the same weight as with a barbell.

This is what I call “linked power and separated power.”

For example, if you can bench press 100kg once, it would be impossible to lift the same weight with two 50kg dumbbells, and the best you could do would be a maximum of 35kg per arm.
Once you can lift 50kg dumbbells, you will roughly be able to bench press around 140kg.

Utilizing this combined power and separation power, “weights that would be difficult to lift with dumbbells are contracted to their maximum using combined power, and when stretching, by releasing the hands and separating the weights, the load on each target area is applied to the target area, which would be difficult to lift with a separate weight.”

With isolation exercises alone, once you reach your limit, you tend to resort to cheating, and as your speed increases, the strain on your joints increases. With gear exercises, we want you to take advantage of the various benefits and try out practical exercises.

Therefore, as a “basic idea,” we selected a load of 6 repetitions (80%) to 15 repetitions (50%), which is the load that is most likely to stimulate the muscles when lifting, and by using it as a barbell and utilizing the linked power, we were able to lift it up to the top position without cheating, and by separating it when stretching, at the top position, the set load has changed to a high load because it is a dumbbell, allowing us to give the most effective maximum stretch to the target area, making it possible to practice the ideal exercise that is “tough on the muscles but gentle on the joints.”
Here, “coupled power” refers to barbell exercises, and “separated power” refers to dumbbell exercises.
